Greg Mann Accounting MilduraThere is something about Mildura that draws people back to it. Despite being born in Mildura, I didn’t start my career here. Like many of Mildura’s sons and daughters I left to study and somehow found myself returning 10 years later.

Countrywide Management Services has grown and evolved with our clients. One of the benefits of working in such a tight knit community is the relationships you form with your clients. You get to know people and see a snapshot of their lives; some of my oldest clients are more like a friend you only see once a year.

The practice grew from a need in the Mildura area, starting with personal tax returns and moving into business accounting as our personal clients started their own business. Countrywide Management Services was started in Mildura in March of 1990. At the time the mission statement was, as the name suggests, providing services to small business managers. Services such as debtor management, bookkeeping and tax compliance work. In the first ten years the practice experienced high growth in the preparation of individual tax returns.

With the GST legislation in 2000 the practice experienced steady growth in small business tax compliance work and this was the major focus for the next ten years.

Due to a strong client need, Countrywide Management Services expanded to include consulting in 2011. While tax compliance still remains a major source of client demand, we have found the effects of the drought and the global financial crisis on small business has resulted in a strong demand for consultancy/management services.

The practice consists of myself, Greg Mann, the owner and principal of the firm, two accountants and a receptionist administration person. The practice has remained small by choice, so as to provide a more personalised service and a faster response to our client’s needs delivered at a reasonable cost to the client.

The practice has formed a number of strategic business alliances in areas such as Financial Planning, Finance Broking, Insurances and Share Broking. We also offer specialist accounting services in such areas as Insolvency, GST and Capital Gains Tax through our involvement in the Pitcher Partners Critical Point Network.

Over time we have built up a broad client base of small businesses throughout Mildura and the Northwest Victorian region. With our local knowledge, we have been able to provide advice on how different business sectors are performing and types of local investments that may be available.

I take a great deal of personal satisfaction from knowing I have helped many small businesses grow. And look forward to continuing to do so for many years.
